Aperture Christmas Cards

Happy Friday!

I hope you’re all ahead on your Christmas card making unlike me.  I am so very behind schedule at the moment that I really need some elves to help me – do you happen to know any?!  Today, I am sharing a selection of Christmas cards made using apertures.  An aperture is a basically a shape cut out of card using either a craft knife, scissors or die.

My first card was the one that gave me the idea to base my blog post on apertures.  It’s the simplest card of them all but a definite favourite.

I used the CrafTangles Christmas Greetings stamp set and stamped it with distress inks using a number of rainbow colours.  I then cut a slightly smaller square of red card and die cut a circle that fit the sentiment.  Finally I matt and layered on to orange card and finally on to my white card base.

Next up I decided to make a card using 2 circular apertures in different sizes.

The apertures were cut out of  white card and matted on black.  I added images from the Santa Claus stamp set which I coloured with my chameleon pens.  The sentiment is a real fun one.

My final card is a firm favourite.  It came about after I couldn’t think of what to do as a background and is definitely a background you’ll be seeing again.  To make it you simply swipe your distress ink mini across the card.

I added a stamped and heat embossed bauble from the Christmas Ornament stamp set.  I stamped stars from the same set and this time the aperture was a oval one.

I hope this post has inspired you to make cards using apertures with CrafTangles products.

See you again soon,
