Simple Cards with Foils and Gilding Flakes

Hello Everyone..
I am Swapna Nair from Magic Paper Pixie. Today I am sharing some fun and easy glittery cards on the blog . These cards are really fun to make and this was my first time making cards with foil and gilding flakes and I absolutely loved the process and the result.

The theme for our Monthly Challenge is ” Glitter and Shine “. I have some ideas for you  to use foil and gilding flakes to add some shine to your projects even if you do not have a laminator .

Do join the monthly challenge we would love to see your take on the glitter and shine theme.

So let’s have a quick look at the cards I made for this challenge. For the first I used a coloured card-stock i.e navy blue. I simple pasted different tacky tapes / scor tapes of varying thickness at an angle and pressed the gold foil on top of the tapes and burnished them quite intensely with a bone folder , the gold foil transfers on the tape and gives a beautiful classy shine across the card. I then gold embossed and copic coloured the flowers from the stamp set  “your in my thoughts” and pasted them on this foiled card with some foam tape after fussy cutting.

I also used a gold mirror cardstock to die cut the word hello and pasted it on the card.

For the second card I used the same technique i.e using tacky tapes and scor tapes but however this time I used the entire front panel while masking the centre of the card with a heart mask. For this card I have used gilding flakes on the tape instead of gold foil . I also used a golden glitter glue (stickles) to give a more defined border to the heart shape in the centre.

For the last card I used an intricate heart die I had in my stash on a cardstock after adhering it to using a double sided adhesive paper. Once the die cut was ready I peeled the release paper and then poured gilding flakes on them. I used a stencil brush to clear the edges and adhered the shiny heart die cut on a watercolor paper . I then used some distress inks to give a light colourful background on the watercolor paper along with the golden mirror cardstock sentiment die.

I finally splattered some paint and added some jewels to the cards to give it an extra shine.
