Slimline Cards

Hello Everyone..
I am Swapna Nair from Magic Paper Pixie. Today I am sharing some fun and easy slimline cards on the blog . Slimline cards have been quite a rage for a while now , and since I have never tried making them , I thougth I might as well join the party and have some fun.

The theme for our Monthly Challenge is ” Glitter and Shine “. Do join the monthly challenge ,we would love to see your take on the glitter and shine theme.

Slimline Cards 1

All my three cards today are slimline cards. The standard measurements that I have used for all the card bases are 4 * 9 inches . The card panel on top of each of these cards are slightly smaller than the card bases . (approx 3 3/4 * 8 3/4 inches.

The first card is made using the stamp set sweet love . I used a white card panel measuring a little less in size than the base (4″*9″ inches) and used the craftangles scalloped stitched border die on all four sides to give an added interest to the panel , I then die cut three small hearts on the panel and used a light pink cardstock as the backdrop that can be seen through the heart shapes of the panel. I stamped the sentiment Me & You masking the word “just” on the pink cardstock . The sentiment is visible through the heart in the centre of the panel . I then copic colored the images of the girl and boy from the stamped and placed it on either side of the card panel .

I then did very light stencilling with worn lipstick distress oxide ink on some parts of the panel with a dots stencil . And finally I added a few sequins and jewels to the panel along with some clear shimmer on the hearts that are visible through the die cut.

For the second card, I used the rough watercolour paper as the panel since I wanted the card to have some texture. I then used the craftangles felicity collection pattern paper along with some craftangles kraft cardstock and cut them in to 3 squares each . I used a distress tool on the pattern paper to give it a jagged edge and used a little distress oxide on the edges of it . I then stamped and colored the flower image from the stamp set Hello Lovely. After fussy cutting these images I layered these on top of each other on the panel horizontally.I finally added the sentiment and a few jewels and ink splatters to complete the card.

For the third card I used the same stamp set “hello lovely” and stamped the flowers towards the corner of the card panel . I used a masking paper to ensure that the flowers are overlapped and grouped together. I then copic colored these images. I also stamped the same image with antique linen towards the edges of the card and completed the card using a hello die cut with a gold mirror cardstock .I used the distress tool to give the whole panel a jagged look. In the end I also added a few ink splatters and jewels on the card.
